Things to Come

Sorry that I’ve been pretty quiet here on the blog and on social media in general. I’ve been meaning to make more updates but… dang, have I been busy! I’m still having a little trouble balancing this whole full time indie author gig along with my full time day job and other aspects of life in general. I’m getting better at it, bit by bit, but every spare minute I have at a keyboard right now has been spent on furthering book two, which I’m sure matters more to y’all in the long run than my rambling on about this or that.

But, since its quiet today and I have a few minutes before the inevitable holiday madness descends and keeps me crazy busy throughout December, I thought I’d do a little “what’s up” check-in sort of post today…

So, let’s run through this update bullet style (since my  brain works best in lists).

  • Iron’s Progress

Iron is doing well. Very well. Exceeding my expectations well!

In under two months, it has broken even and started turning a profit. That was my hope for the entire first year, so… Wow.

I am beyond moved at how well it has been doing and with all the lovely feedback I have received from people who have read it. Reading your reviews, getting your emails, seeing you share word of Iron with your friends… Dang, guys; I still tear up every time! Without all of you, this dream of mine wouldn’t be coming true–and I owe you thanks from the very bottom of my heart.

  • Book Two: Faster

As you may already know, book two of The Warding, currently (and likely permanently) titled Faster, is in the works. I am writing it as fast as I can. As of today, the first draft it is 25% complete, with a new chapter being added every 1-2 weeks.

I have had quite a few people ask me when they can expect Faster to come out, and right now I am aiming for a release date in late summer or early fall of 2016. I wish I could write faster (har har) but, unfortunately, I’m just not a fast writer. I can pump out quite a bit of material on the weekends but my weekdays remain a problem. Quite honestly, I am ashamed of how little work I get done Monday through Friday. (There’s the worst part of that whole balance issue I mentioned earlier. Insert the dramatic sigh of a writer long in suffering here.) Hopefully my schedule will be shaking up a bit in the months to come, freeing up some extra time!

I promise I will get the next book out as fast as I am able. As soon as I have an inkling of the hard release date I will certainly share it here, on my Facebook page, and on Twitter as well.

  • First Hunt: A Warding Short

I realize another 7-8 months is a long time to wait for your next Caitlin fix and I have a solution: a short story set in The Warding world. Tentatively titled “First Hunt,” this story will fill in a gap from Iron and tell us what, exactly, happened on Caitlin’s first hunt.

I’m pretty excited about sharing this little snippet of Caitlin’s life with you, and I hope it will be a fun little tale. I am aiming to have this story out in early 2016 and, as of now, it will likely be exclusive to Kindle.

Again, as soon as there are more details I will let you know!

Aaaaaaaand that’s about it for now, folks. Hope that answered some of your questions and got you excited for things to come.

In case December does pull me under and I don’t get back to update this blog until after the holiday madness has passed, I hope everyone has a lovely holiday season. If you’re thinking of getting a copy of Iron for someone for the holidays, don’t forget to enter my Goodreads Book Giveaway for a chance to win 1 of 3 signed copies!
